Scott Ashjian, the Senate candidate for the Tea Party of Nevada, says Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle tried to convince him to drop out of the race to give her a stronger chance to beat Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid in next month’s election. Ashjian told The Wall Street Journal that his reply was no can do.

angle, ashjian, nevada, senate“I can’t win without you,” Ashjian says Angle told him. “That isn’t happening,” he says he replied.

The meeting was held Wednesday at the home of Richard Ziser, who lost to Reid in the 2004 election. Ziser, now an organizer for the Angle campaign, disputes Ashjian’s account. Angle didn’t ask Ashjian to leave the race, she just said she would “welcome his support,” Ziser told The Journal.
