Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine Friday slammed Ted Cruz's endorsement of Donald Trump, referencing the nominee's attacks on the Texas senator's father during the primaries.
The Virginia senator said on Twitter:
The tweet, however, has since been deleted from Kaine's page.
Cruz endorsed Trump Friday, two months after being booed off the stage of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland for not supporting the nominee.
The senator announced his backing in a 741-word post on Facebook.
During the primary campaign, Trump touted an unsubstantiated story published in The National Enquirer that Rafael Cruz was associated with Lee Harvey Oswald in the months before he shot John F. Kennedy.
In April, the Enquirer published a photo showing Oswald and another man distributing pro-Castro leaflets in New Orleans in August 1963. Kennedy was assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963.
