LIGNET: Shoot Anyone Climbing Over US Embassy Walls, Says Ex-CIA Operative

In an exclusive interview with LIGNET, Fred Rustmann, a former member of the CIA’s elite senior intelligence service, expressed his outrage over the failure of host countries to protect American diplomatic compounds in Cairo, Benghazi, and Tunis and recommended the United States prepare to defend its embassies by making it clear it will shoot anyone who climbs over its embassy walls. Rustmann also said the attack on the U.S. embassy in Cairo is an indication that a fundamental shift in U.S. policy toward Egypt and the Middle East is needed.
