Low-tax crusader Grover Norquist tells Newsmax that President Obama’s willingness to allow the country to go over the fiscal cliff could lead to a tea party resurrection.
“Four years ago, Obama misunderstood his mandate. He said everybody’s voted for me and then he turned around and spent $800-plus billion on stimulus spending and then more money and more money and you had a tea party reaction and he lost the House of Representatives and went from 70 percent support to below 50.
“Now we have a situation where the president gets re-elected by a smaller margin, then turns around and says well, everybody’s made me king so you have to do what I want, except in addition to spending too much money, which he did four years ago, he’s now going to have a trillion dollars in tax increases for healthcare. He wants $1.5 trillion on other tax increases.
“And now we have this situation where Obama wants to have a series of regulations showering down on the American people, EPA and OSHA and others, which are very, very expensive and they’re all unpleasant surprises for small businesses.
“The regulations, the taxes and the spending will generate tea party 2.0, much stronger than tea party 1.0 because it’s going to be deeper. It’s not just spending. It’s spending, taxes and regulations.”
