CIA Director Mike Pompeo flatly denied Thursday that Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election had any effect on the outcome of the campaign, The Daily Caller reported.

Pompeo reminded an audience at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies in Washington, D.C., the U.S. intelligence community never concluded Moscow's mischief changed a single vote.

"The intelligence community's assessment is that the Russian meddling that took place did not affect the outcome of the election," he said.

Russia's efforts to disrupt U.S. elections "is not new," he said, adding "the Russians have been at this an awfully long time."

Pompeo predicted Moscow is likely to continue its behavior "until there is a new leader in Russia" to replace President Vladimir Putin, a former KGB officer.

Democrats have been accusing President Donald Trump of colluding with Putin to swing the election against Hillary Clinton. Those charges have spurred congressional investigations and the appointment of an independent prosecutor to look into any illegal contacts between Trump aides and Moscow.

Pompeo's remarks come as Congress is beginning to look into charges, according to The Hill, Russia colluded with the Obama administration to give Moscow control over 20 percent of America's uranium stockpile.

Trump told reporters Thursday the uranium deal is the "real story."

"Not a story where they talk about collusion and there was none, it was a hoax," he said.
