The conservative Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of Bradley Manning, the military intelligence analyst being prosecuted for leaking classified government documents to the Wikileaks website.

Those documents disclosed “systemic corruption within America’s military and diplomatic apparatus,” and the government is determined to “crucify” Manning and send him to prison for life, the Institute states in a commentary.

“To his credit, Manning refused to remain silent.”

Founded in 1982 by constitutional attorney and author John W. Whitehead, The Rutherford Institute is a civil liberties organization that provides free legal services to people whose constitutional and human rights have been threatened or violated.

The commentary points out the Obama administration has “launched an all-out campaign to roust out, prosecute, and imprison government whistleblowers for exposing government corruption, incompetence, and greed.

“Thus, Bradley Manning is merely the latest whistleblower to be singled out for punishment.”
