Rush Limbaugh slammed the Obama administration for its attempt at stripping Arizona’s police agencies of special immigration arrest powers, calling the tactic “good old fashioned, political, Soviet-style intimidation.”

“So Barack Obama turned around and sued Arizona,” Limbaugh said on his radio show, according to a transcript. “‘Who in the hell do you think YOU are? You want to enforce immigration law? Okay, let me show you what's going to happen to you.

"I'm going to tell you we're not going to enforce immigration law and I'm going to take you all the way to the Supreme Court, and I don't care what happens to your state!’ And that is exactly what happens. And so Arizona is being punished. Now, they might want to say this is political punishment but it has real world consequences.”

Limbaugh listed the consequences: “Crime. Property value loss. Economic calamity.”

Limbaugh then turned up the rhetoric on Obama: “It's an absolute disaster. So while this may be traditional ol' political punishment, there are horrible real world consequences attached to it,” he said.

“Arizona is already reeling from the lawlessness on its border with Mexico. And as I said: It's abundantly clear now that Obama has given up winning Arizona," he continued. "He doesn't care. He's written it off. Now he's going ‘Soviet’ on it to make an example to every other state, by the way. And do not discount that. This is a message to every other state on the border: ‘The same can happen to you if you try this stunt!’”

The most popular radio talk show host in American then went on to say the Obama move was “good old fashioned, political, Soviet-style intimidation.”

Limbaugh also said the Democrats want to recruit illegal immigrants for the voting rolls.

“The Democrat Party — losing traditional American voters in droves, left and right — needs as many foreign citizens and illegal immigrants to come into this country as possible to be converted into voters,” he said. “He’s written off white, working families. He’s now written off the state of Arizona. Arizona was a state that was in play.…Well, not any longer.”

Limbaugh said he was frightened by the sheer audacity of what the administraiton was doing.

“I am sitting here, my mouth agape, wide open, in stunned disbelief,” the conservative radio host said, in remarks first reported by Politico. “I shouldn’t be surprised, but nevertheless I am. And I’m scared. I am scared of what these people are doing to this country.”
