MSNBC President Phil Griffin wants reporters to investigate why his network's viewership ratings plummeted last week after Megyn Kelly's new show on Fox hit the airwaves and took a particular beating on Rachel Maddow's program.
TVNewser reports that Griffin called this week's cable news primetime ratings "impossible" and suggested the numbers had somehow been fixed.
"You guys should be doing some investigations – I have never seen it in all my years of cable. Same overnight, same everything, and they doubled their ratings in a day? It is impossible," Griffin said.
“I have never seen it, they did election night numbers in the demo Tuesday. Wednesday it came back down. I complained, I was like, what?" Griffin said.

Hollywood Reporter says that Kelly slaughtered Maddow in the key demographic of adults 25-45 on Tuesday, after losing to her the previous night by 10,000 viewers in the debut of her show in a Fox News' primetime slot. On Tuesday, Kelly had an audience of 623,000 in the key demo, compared with Maddow's 291,000.
Additionally, Kelly beat Maddow on Wednesday with 384,000 compared to 299,000, while CNN's Piers Morgan Live captured 117,000 viewers. Thursday saw Kelly again beating Maddow 376,000 to 288,000, but Morgan's numbers were up to 157,000.
