Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush met on Monday with a group of former staffers in Washington, but declined to say whether he would run for president in 2016.

“I am here to catch up with folks and promote education reform,” the former GOP governor told the National Review in an interview at the J. W. Marriott Hotel near the White House.

Bush spent an hour in the Marriott’s Cannon room, reminiscing and fielding questions about his political future.

Among the GOP supporters at the meeting was Neil Newhouse, who served as Mitt Romney’s campaign pollster, the National Review reports.

When asked further about any presidential aspirations, Bush would only tell the Review: “We have an alumni group that I like keeping in touch with. I’m here to focus on educational reform, and that’s what I’m going to tell people.”

Bush will host a national summit on education reform on Tuesday – and speakers include Education Secretary Arne Duncan, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and current Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.
