Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, having lost his lead in the Democratic presidential race in New Hampshire, is taking off the gloves and now says he actually does care about front-runner Hillary Clinton's emails.
Sanders famously said in October's Democratic debate that he doesn't care about Clinton's "damn emails."
While not backing down from the comment, Sanders told
The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, "You get 12 seconds to say these things" at the debate.
"There's an investigation going on right now," he said. "I did not say, 'End the investigation.' That's silly. … Let the investigation proceed unimpeded."
Sanders also pointed to Clinton's change in position on various issues he has long believed in even before they came popular with Democrats.
Such reversals on issues such as the Pacific trade deal and authorizing the Iraq War do "speak to the character of a person," Sanders said.
