WASHINGTON — The Secret Service apprehended a man who had climbed over the White House fence — and a CNN crew caught the capture on tape.

The unidentified man was taken into custody Tuesday evening by Secret Service agents who guard the White House complex around the clock, Spokesman Ed Donovan says.

A CNN crew filming "John King USA" live swung its cameras around at King's behest and filmed the takedown and arrest.

The man had a backpack, which Donovan said was being examined for possible explosive material.

President Barack Obama was believed to be in the White House at the time.
