As President Barack Obama prepares to address the nation Tuesday night, promises from his previous two State of the Union addresses remain unfulfilled. Here's a look at some of them:
2011:
- Make a tuition tax credit permanent
- Eliminate billions in taxpayer dollars to oil companies
- Overhaul immigration and education laws
- Reform the tax code to eliminate loopholes and lower corporate rates
2010:
- Meet monthly with congressional Democratic and Republican leaders
- Overhaul immigration and education laws
- Slash tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, and give them to companies that create jobs in the United States
