As Republican rush to repeal Obamacare, the health care law has never been so popular, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll reveals.
Here are the poll highlights:
- 45 percent of those surveyed believe Obamacare is a good idea, while 41 percent say it is a bad idea.
- 80 percent of Democrats say it is a good idea, compared to 13 percent of Republicans.
- 50 percent say they had "very little confidence" or "no confidence at all."
- Republicans could propose a new law that would improve health care compared to 26 percent of people who said they had "quite a bit" or "a great deal of confidence." An additional 23 percent said they had "just some" confidence.
NBC News notes the 45 percent who say it is a good idea "is the highest percentage" since the poll began asking the question in 2009. And it noted it is the first time in the poll since the law's passage in 2010 where more believe it is a good idea than a bad one.
"The poll comes as a critical moment in the debate over the health law's future," The Wall Street Journal notes.
"Republicans are pushing ahead to repeal as much of the law as they can through budget maneuvers in Congress, spurred on by President-elect Donald Trump urging them to move quickly and boldly, and confident that they are doing what they were sent to Washington to do."
