HONOLULU (AP) — President Barack Obama is strongly condemning what he calls the "outrageous" terrorist attack in Pakistan that killed at least 45 people.

Authorities say a female suicide bomber lobbed hand grenades, then detonated an explosive belt at an aid center Saturday.

In a statement, Obama says the killing of innocent civilians is, in his words, "an affront to the people of Pakistan."

Police believe it was the first time that Islamic militants have sent a woman to carry out a suicide attack in Pakistan.

Obama is celebrating Christmas with his family in Hawaii.
