Sen. John Barrasso on Sunday blamed President Barack Obama for failing to steer the country away from the fiscal cliff by calling for more stimulus and more spending.
“What we’re seeing here is a monumental failure of presidential leadership,” Barrasso said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “The president’s the only person with a pen who can sign this . . . but he is outsourcing this. He continues to campaign and lecture when he ought to be focusing on the No. 1 problem that hurts us as a country, which is our debt.”
The Wyoming Republican said Obama’s push to raise taxes on upper-income earners is flawed.

“He’s fixated on what may help fund the government for seven days a year, ignoring the other 358 days a year,” Barrasso said. “You have to focus on, really, what’s going to save this country, and we are not there, and this president is doing nothing about the addiction that his administration and he has to spending. He’s the spender-in-chief.”
Barrasso said his goal is to help keep tax rates down for all Americans and focus on cutting spending.
“The president has now maxed out his credit card,” he said.
