YOKOHAMA, Japan (AP) — President Barack Obama is reaffirming his support for Japan to hold a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.

Obama says Japan is the model of the kind of country that should have a spot on the security council. Obama also supports a seat on a security council for India.

Obama spoke following a private meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan. He says Kan has accepted his invitation to visit Washington early next year.
