Israel’s secret service is training Iranian dissidents to assassinate Iranian nuclear scientists, NBC News reported Thursday.

U.S. officials confirmed that Mossad is financing, training, and arming members of the dissident group, just as the Iranian regime has alleged, according to The “Rock Center” report.

Five Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in attacks since 2007. In the most recent attack, Mostafa Ahamdi Roshan died Jan. 11 in the explosion of a small, magnetic bomb that two assailants on a motorcycle had planted on his vehicle.

The attacks were carried out by the People’s Mujahedin of Iran, an Iranian dissident group that the United States considers a terrorist organization, NBC said, citing U.S. officials.

Israel and the West have been pressuring Iran to abandon its nuclear program. Tehran contends it is pursuing nuclear energy options and not building a bomb.
