Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi and his family amassed a staggering fortune of at least $35 billion that countries around the world are now seeking to freeze amid Libya’s harsh crackdown on rebels in the oil-rich nation.

The United States has seized $30 billion of the Gadhafis’ investments, Canada has frozen $2.4 billion, Austria, $1.7 billion, and the United Kingdom, $1 billion.
“These assets appear to be just the tip of the iceberg, as no one is yet certain exactly what the family owns around the world,”
according to a report in Britain’s Daily Mail, which features photographs of a magnificent $15 million luxury mansion in London that is owned by Gadhafi’s son Saif.
In addition to Moammar and Saif Gadhafi, four other members of the family have had their assets frozen: his sons Hannibal, Khamis, and Mutassim, and daughter Aisha.
