Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the Holocaust a lie in an interview with German television, saying Israel uses it to suppress Palestinians.

Israeli statehood “was a colonialist plan that resulted from a lie,” Ahmadinejad, speaking through an interpreter, said in an interview with ZDF public television posted on the network’s website today. “They never were rulers of this land. They made a story named Holocaust and the Palestinians have to pay the price for it.”

Asked about Iran’s nuclear program, Ahmadinejad said atomic weapons are “amoral,” according to the German translation of his remarks. “We are against this nuclear bomb on principle.”
