Donald Trump is now seen as inevitable as the Republican Party's presidential candidate by 70 percent of likely GOP voters, according to the new weekly
Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday.
Here's the breakdown among likely GOP voters on how likely it is that Trump will be the Republican nominee for president in 2016:
- Very likely: 31 percent
- Somewhat likely: 39 percent
- Not very likely: 17 percent
- Not likely: 10 percent
- Not sure: 4 percent
The total percentage of respondents who say Trump is likely or very likely to get the nod is up 2 points from last week.
That's the highest it's been in the weekly Rasmussen survey since late October, when it spiked to 74 percent.
Trump's number ticked down 1 point to 55 percent likely among all likely voters of any party leaning.
The overall poll, conducted Dec. 8-9, surveyed 1,000 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
