Trump Takes to Twitter to Tweak Republicans Over Fiscal Accord

By    |   Thursday, 03 January 2013 10:32 AM EST

Real estate billionaire Donald Trump utilized Twitter, as he often does, to express his displeasure with how Republicans handled the fiscal cliff negotiations.

Trump offered about 15 tweets of criticism. “I am a Republican, but the Republicans may be the worst negotiators in history!” he writes.

“This is a terrible deal for the country and an embarrassment for Republicans! Obama and the Democrats are laughing at the deal they just made. The Republicans got nothing!”

Trump says the deal includes $41 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts. “It is pathetic. Obama is laughing at them,” he tweets.

The Donald says he saw this coming. “Remember — I told you so.” Combine the Republicans’ defeat on the fiscal cliff with their setbacks in last year’s elections, and you have “a case study in how third parties come about,” Trump muses.

The impact of the new fiscal law will be negative on most Americans, Trump says. “Obama's deal raises taxes on 77 percent of national households. With Obamacare taxes kicking in now, everyone will be paying for his 2nd term.”

And the president isn’t going to stop there, Trump argues. “Make sure you realize that this ‘deal’ is only a stop gap measure. Obama will be looking to raise even more taxes in the coming negotiation.”
