Donald Trump's downward trend has begun, Washington Post political reporter Phillip Bump writes on the newspaper's
"The Fix" blog.
Trump cherry-picks the polls that favor him when announcing how well he is doing, Bump says, but the overall picture isn't good for the billionaire real-estate developer, who was fast out of the gate, but doesn't appear to be in it for the long-haul.
Recent polls have continued to show Trump's numbers increasing from the previous poll by the same organization, Bump notes, but points out that two recent polls showing Trump in the 20s show him gaining from the last time those same polls were taken – in July.
At that time, Trump was just starting his rise. Other polls taken in the meantime had trump into the 30s. He now is on the decline as second-place Ben Carson is tied with him when the margin of error is taken into account.
"And with all of that information, Trump being up two points since a poll in July is not something that's actually good news for his campaign," Bump writes.
