Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said he'd be happy to hire Donald Trump to build a wall across the border of Mexico if he is elected president.
Trump is currently the GOP front-runner, making the building of a border wall a cornerstone of his campaign, but Cruz recently said Trump will not be the party's nominee.
Jeff Kuhner, host of "The Kuhner Report" on WRKO in Boston, asked Cruz if he would build a wall himself, "And would you if you were president appoint Donald Trump to build that wall?" (Begins at 8:30 in the audio above.)
"Absolutely, yes on both fronts," Cruz answered.
Cruz said the plan he has detailed on his website will "build a wall that works," secure the border, triple the border patrol, increase fourfold the fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, put in place a strong biometric exit/entry system on visas and put in place a strong e-Verify system.
"We know how to solve this problem, and we will end sanctuary cities, we will end welfare for people here illegally, we will end catch-and-release and we will deport criminal illegal aliens," Cruz said. "As president, I will secure the border and we will end illegal immigration."
