Fox News Channel anchor Megyn Kelly suggested that Americas "keep an open mind" about the coming Trump presidency while appearing as a co-host on syndicated morning program "Live."

Kelly appeared as a guest co-host on the show, which is led by regular host Kelly Ripa.

"Love him or hate him, he's the next president of our country," said Kelly, who just hours before was co-anchoring coverage of election results on Fox News Channel. Viewers ought to "keep an open mind" about his time in office.

Kelly's remarks come after she tangled with Trump earlier in the process. During a highly watched debate among Republican candidates early in the cycle in 2015, Kelly asked Trump if his repeated remarks about women suggested he did not have the temperament to run the nation.

Trump began to target Kelly in tweets, attacking her professionalism, and in other venues, making the remark that the anchor "had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out her wherever."

Kelly, who has helped anchor Fox News election coverage since 2006, said she had never seen an election "where people got it shockingly wrong," and was not certain there would be another in this lifetime. She suggested that white, working-class voters "felt heard" in the election, while recognizing that another large segment of the electorate was very disappointed.

She suggested viewers maintain their own integrity. "What happens in the White House does not affect who you are," she said.
