Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said the campaign is "not worried" about the effect of FBI Director James Comey's announcement Sunday that his examination of newly uncovered Hillary Clinton emails does not change his July conclusion about her private server.
In an interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto on Fox News Channel's "Your World" Conway said, "We were clear that we would not make the Comey investigation the center of our message."
"But [Trump] said if you don't like a rigged corrupt system, you can't possibly vote for Hillary Clinton – none of that changes," she added.
In a letter to Congress on Sunday, Comey said the agency had completed its review of the new emails and "we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton."
Pressed by Cavuto on whether the November surprise would slow or stop Trump's momentum – and give "the other side a moment to catch its breath and maybe reverse it, Conway confidently responded:
"We're not worried."
Earlier, Florida's GOP attorney general Pam Bondi said the FBI's latest conclusion on Clinton's email usage "confirms everything that Donald Trump has been saying about the system."
"The system is dysfunctional, broken and Hillary Clinton is the system," she declared.
"Think about the way that this was crafted," she added. "[Comey is] referring back to his July conference about the emails. So let's look at it in the light most favorable to Hillary Clinton. So he's still saying she was extremely careless. No one who is extremely careless with classified emails can have a security clearance – especially the president of the United States."
