Hurricane Blackouts Cut Power to About 8 Million

Blackouts caused by Hurricane Sandy, the storm that struck southern New Jersey last night, extended to about 8 million electrcity customers from South Carolina to Maine.

The power failures extended as far west as Michigan and Indiana, a Bloomberg tally of utility websites and statements showed today about 7:30 a.m. New York Time.
