Madison, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin law stripping most public employees of most of their collective bargaining is likely on hold for at least two months.
Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi has extended a restraining order keeping the law from going into effect while she considers whether the state open meetings law was broken in the process of passing the law.
Sumi heard testimony on the issue Friday and then gave attorneys until May 23 to file additional arguments.
Whatever decision Sumi eventually makes is likely to be appealed in an attempt to get the case to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
