Reality show star Kim Kardashian is suing the retailer Old Navy because of a recent ad campaign in which the company casted a model who Kim claims is an identical version of herself, the
Vancouver Sun reports.
“Kim Kardashian is immediately recognizable, and is known for her look and style. Her identity and persona are valuable. When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them,” Gary Hecker, her attorney, said.
Melissa Molinaro, the model hired by Old Navy, is even dating Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend.
Kim is claiming that Old Navy specifically chose Molinaro to trick the public into thinking that Kardashian endorses the company. Though no exact monetary amount is attached to the suit, the reality star believes Old Navy’s actions entitle her to between $15 and $20 million.
