Girls With Guns: The Pros and Cons of Giving Toy Guns to Your Daughter

By    |   Tuesday, 07 April 2015 09:35 AM EDT

If you're a family that enjoys and respects your Second Amendment right and you regularly exercise it, it seems only natural that girls with guns would want to encourage the same in their daughters.

Young girls want to emulate their mothers, and have done so since the beginning of time. Just as we give them dolls to "mother," it seems only natural that we would also give them a toy gun. They're likely already aware that you carry, and simply want to do what mommy does.

Giving your daughter a toy gun is a fantastic opportunity to teach firearm safety on an ongoing basis. The very same safety rules apply to toy guns as they do to real guns, so this just naturally provides a platform for you to impart valuable lessons to your daughter, which in turn will lead her to one day, be a responsible firearm owner.

While the Bill of Rights may be discussed in a public classroom, the Second Amendment is often glossed over or distorted from its original intent.

Allowing your daughter to have toy firearms gives parents the platform to teach priceless history lessons that may not always be taught in school or in a manner with which you agree.

A potential drawback to giving your daughter toy guns is societal backlash. The liberal media frequently portrays guns and gun owners in a negative light and this could also be the same mentality that the parents of your daughter's friends have.

Girls with guns need to be particularly vigilant in making sure that their daughter doesn't bring her toy gun to school with her, for example, at Show and Tell.

Many schools now have a "zero tolerance" policy, and since toy guns can sometimes resemble real guns, this could lead to unintended consequences.
