Critics of the Common Core Standards initiatives have been vocal about their concerns. The national standards have been established to accurately measure a child's academic progress and better prepare them for college.
Common Core has been implemented in 43 states and the District of Columbia. But it's also been repealed in three states.

Here are five failures of Common Core claimed by opponents:
1. Common Core lost considerable support when political controversies flared in 2012, changing the nature of the discussion. Parents in many states got to know Common Core as a political issue instead of its prior status as an educational one.
2. According to Breitbart, three states — Oklahoma, Indiana and South Carolina — initially adopted the Common Core standards but have since have officially repealed them. The three are among 34 states where anti-Common Core legislation has been introduced.
3. Many parents "are just plain outraged by the crazy homework spun off of Common Core's dumbed-down math,"
reports The Christian Post.

4. An April 2015 problem with a computer server stopped Common Core testing in Nevada, Montana and North Dakota after a previous technical issue delayed it the previous month,
reports Fox News.
The three states contract with the New Hampshire-based Measured Progress to administer the tests and the company indicated its platform wasn't able to support the number of students taking the tests even though the server capacity was increased beyond what the tests' creator said was needed.
5. Common Core has generated particularly stiff opposition from the conservative group Americans For Prosperity and powerful Republican leaders who include Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marco Rubio, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal,
according to USA Today.
