Yale University: This world-famous university, which is also a member of the Ivy League, needs no introduction. Ranked third on the list of the best colleges in the country by U.S. News and World Report, it is the third-oldest university in the United States. Many presidential candidates are alumni of this great university. The university consists of a top-ranking law school, a school of management, and colleges of medicine, art, and nursing. University of Connecticut: Ranked 69th on the list issued by U.S. News and World Report, University of Connecticut (UConn) at Storrs boasts of being the only public university in New England with its own schools of medicine, law, dentistry, and social work. There are over 16,000 undergraduates enrolled in the institution, which is known for having an outstanding average SAT score of enrolled students. It offers over 105 majors, including eight undergraduate degrees, 16 graduate degrees, and five professional degrees.
 
University of Hartford: Located in West Hartford, this university is a private institution with a campus size of 320 acres. It also holds the highest level of accreditation in the U.S. and has more than 7000 graduate and undergraduate students pursuing the 82 undergraduate, 10 associate, and 28 graduate degree programs. The university offers the advantages of a small residential college coupled with academic opportunities of a huge world-renowned university.
 
The Central Connecticut State University: This is one of the oldest universities in the state and is noteworthy for its politically and socially active student body. The Association of American Colleges and Universities selected CSSU as one of the 16 “Leadership Institutions” in the United States. The public university offers 100 majors in over 80 fields of study.
 
Connecticut College: This respected institution ranks among the top 50 liberal arts colleges in the U.S. It is a member of a small group of institutions labeled  “Little Ivies.” The college offers more than 1000 courses in 29 fields of study with seven interdisciplinary programs.  Majors offered include economics, psychology, government, history, biological sciences, and anthropology.
