Judges hearing the case of former Liberian President Charles Taylor have ordered a subpoena to compel supermodel Naomi Campbell to testify, despite her repeated refusals.
Prosecutors say Campbell received a rough diamond from Taylor in South Africa at a celebrity-packed 1997 reception hosted by former President Nelson Mandela.
They say that proves Taylor lied when he said he never possessed rough diamonds.
Taylor is charged with supporting rebels in Sierra Leone's civil war in exchange for diamonds and other natural wealth. He is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The order published Thursday follows an earlier ruling this week allowing prosecutors to reopen their case and call new witnesses.
