John Taylor, founder of currency- hedge fund FX Concepts LLC, said the euro is in a “death struggle” as European policy makers seek to salvage the shared currency amid the region’s sovereign debt crisis.

The outlook for a currency union surviving in its present form is “bleak,” Taylor said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s “In the Loop” with Betty Liu.

Taylor, based in New York, predicted several times since 2010 that the euro will fall to parity versus the dollar.

The euro rose 0.1 percent to $1.3337 at 9:55 a.m. in New York.
