Big tech companies operate as "totalitarian, one-party states," and conservatives are right to suspect social media companies are biased against them, including questioning Twitter's motives for freezing the account for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign, investor Peter Thiel, one of President Donald Trump's top Silicon Valley supporters and donors said Friday.

"You always have the question – are these things innocent accidents or are they intentional acts of political sabotage?" the PayPal co-founder told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "The Republicans, I think, are right to be somewhat suspicious because this stuff keeps happening and Silicon Valley is something of a one-party state."

The account was locked after it posted a video showing protesters outside the Kentucky senator's home making threats, after he had fallen down and broke his shoulder. 

Twitter said it blocked the account because the tweet violated its violent threats policy, but conservatives say the action shows bias on the social media giants.

Thiel said Twitter's statement was probably "technically correct" but still, in his experience he has found in Silicon Valley an atmosphere of political correctness where conservatives "can't speak out."

"It would be one thing if everybody in Silicon Valley was anti-Trump," he said. "The majority are, but, of course, most people who are Republican, conservative are uncomfortable saying that. That's the real problem. It's the sort of political correctness where you can't speak out."

Thiel also discussed his op-ed for The New York Times, in which he criticized Google for sharing artificial intelligence with China. 

"They have a AI research lab in China," Thiel said. "They had a contract for maven to help the U.S. Military. AI are the crown jewels of Google's R&D effort and, yes, they would argue that they're not working directly with the Chinese military. The counterpoint is you have to just look at the constitution of the Communist Party of China which says that you're supposed to have civil, military fusion."

Thiel said he would never have set up an AI research lab in China, and the action is "unprecedented."
