Goldman's Cohen: 'Double-Dip' Recession Extremely Unlikely

Friday, 17 September 2010 02:55 PM EDT

Abby Joseph Cohen of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said today that the U.S. economy will experience a period of slow growth, not another recession.

“Double dip, while it can’t be ruled out, is extremely unlikely,” Cohen, the president of Goldman’s Global Markets Institute, said in a recent interview on CNBC. “We are in for a period of slow growth, but not another recession.”

Inflation and interest rates won’t “move notably higher” for some time, Cohen said.
