US Consumer Sentiment Deteriorates in Early May

U.S. consumer sentiment deteriorated in early May as concerns about inflation persisted, a survey showed on Friday.

The University of Michigan said its preliminary consumer sentiment index fell to 59.1 early this month from a final reading of 65.2 in April. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the index dipping to 64.
