Former Michigan Republican Gov. John Engler is moving from the head of one business interest group to another. The current president and chief executive officer of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), will switch to president of the Business Roundtable (BRT) next year, the BRT announced Tuesday, according to The Hill.
Engler, who served three terms as Michigan governor, will transition to the Roundtable after seven years heading the NAM. He will replace John Castellani, who left the roundtable in September to become president and CEO of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. The NAM hasn’t named a successor to Engler yet but plans to do so shortly.
Engler says he can work with a Democratic White House, terming himself a “bipartisan leader.” He notes that "I haven't been a Republican governor for eight years."
