Buffett Lunch Auction Again Planned for June

Monday, 14 May 2012 01:13 PM EDT

Investor Warren Buffett is again auctioning off a private lunch, and the California charity that benefits is hoping the winning bid will top $2 million for the fifth year in a row.

The proceeds of the 13th annual lunch auction go to the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to the poor and homeless in San Francisco. Bidding for the lunch on eBay will begin on June 3 and continue through June 8.

Buffett is chairman and CEO of Omaha, Neb.-based Berkshire Hathaway and a prominent philanthropist.

The winner of the last two auctions is now helping manage Berkshire's investments and working for Buffett, so it's unlikely Ted Weschler will bid again. He spent nearly $5.3 million on the last two auctions.
