Glenn Beck's Back Injury Takes Him Off Air

By    |   Tuesday, 10 January 2012 08:47 AM EST

Glenn Beck was missing in action on Monday night after throwing his back out — bending over a coffee table on his Internet TV show.

Beck’s GBTV originally claimed he had sustained the injury jumping on to the table in a moment of excitement, but later admitted that story was made up to make him sound “athletic and cool.”

Beck sustained the injury on Sunday in his Dallas studio, and it was serious enough to prevent him from taping his Monday show. The Daily Mail reported that he was carted out of the studio on a stretcher.

GBTV’s website said that Beck, 47, would be back on air “as soon as possible.”
