Forty-one percent of Americans say they have already filed their income taxes, according to a new poll by Rasmussen Reports.
Highlights from the poll, released Thursday:
- 41% say they now expect to file by the April 15 deadline.
- 6% say they expect to file for an extension.
- 11% say they are uncertain what they will do.
- 33% say they anticipate getting a refund.
- 24% say they will owe the government money.
- 25% say they expect to break even.
- 18% say they are not sure.
- 36% of women and 30% of men say they expect to receive an IRS refund.
They poll, conducted March 6-8, surveyed 1,050 people. It has a margin of error of plus/minus 3 percentage points.
