Large pension funds have stayed on the sidelines of the bitcoin boom, as they’ve had no way to safeguard their holdings. That could change in 2018.

Next year, a number of private and large public companies will offer services that will make it possible for such institutional investors to jump in, activist investor Eric Jackson wrote as a part of his list of predictions for 2018.

"And when that occurs, expect a corresponding rise in prices," wrote Jackson, founder of EMJ Capital Ltd.
