President Barack Obama said on Thursday that nuclear power was an important part of the U.S. energy future, and that while the country is bringing all resources to bear to monitor the situation in Japan, there is no risk to any U.S. territory.

He said he had asked U.S. regulators to undertake a comprehensive review of domestic nuclear plants in light of the natural disaster that has taken place in Japan.
