Chevron Settles Lawsuits With Patton Boggs Over Ecuador Case

Wednesday, 07 May 2014 01:35 PM EDT

Chevron Corp. settled its legal disputes with Patton Boggs LLP in which it claimed the Washington-based law firm represented Ecuadoran claimants in a “fraudulent” case against the oil company.

Patton Boggs has withdrawn from its representation of the Ecuadorans, both the oil company and the law firm said in separate statements today. A U.S. judge in New York on April 29 threw out a Patton Boggs claim that Chevron had maliciously sued the firm for pursuing collection of a $9.5 billion judgment thrown out as the product of fraud and racketeering.
