Rush: No Lights Off for Turtles

By    |   Monday, 08 March 2010 01:05 PM EST

Rush Limbaugh is buying ads in two Florida newspapers to poke fun at Palm Beach’s ordinance forcing households that live on the beach to turn off outdoor lights from March 1 until Oct. 31 to protect sea turtles.

The turtles lay eggs at night during that time, and lights are known to confuse the animals, Palm Beach Post columnist Jose Lambiet noted on Sunday.

The radio talk show host, who lives on the beach, told Lambiet he is taking out the ads “to make a subtle protest of all the local and state ordinances requiring people who live on the beach in Palm Beach to go dark EIGHT months of the year (!!!!!) for sea turtles.”

You can read the full Jose Lambiet story here.
