Anheuser-Busch InBev NV is close to buying the half of Mexico’s Grupo Modelo SAB that it doesn’t already own for more than $12 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The purchase could be announced as soon as this week, said the person, who declined to be identified as the discussions are confidential. AB InBev currently owns a 50 percent non-controlling stake in Modelo, the maker of Corona.

AB InBev spokeswoman Marianne Amssoms declined to comment. The Wall Street Journal reported the talks earlier.
