New York lawmaker Adam Clayton Powell IV will formally announce his candidacy in the upcoming House Democratic primary Monday, according to a report in Newser.

Powell will undoubtedly use Charlie Rangel’s ethics problems against him -- in a fateful reprise of how Rangel used similar allegations against Powell’s father to defeat him in 1970.

Powell, however, says his challenge “has nothing to with revenge or anything like that. The fact is, it is time to turn the page."

The primary will be held Sept. 14.
