Rising headline inflation figures are "troublesome," but overreacting by raising interest rates would risk "bad consequences" for economic activity and employment, a top Federal Reserve official said on Thursday.
New York Federal Reserve Bank President William Dudley said much of the increase was due to temporary factors. He said the Fed would tighten policy in a timely way, and that it has the tools to do so.
