House Votes to Extend Temporary Govt Funding

Wednesday, 01 December 2010 03:11 PM EST

The U.S. House Wednesday voted to avert a government shutdown by extending temporary funding for another two weeks as Democrats struggle to craft a more lasting solution.

The House voted 239 to 178 to continue funding government operations on a temporary basis through Dec. 18. The Senate must also approve the measure to ensure that funding for everything from national parks to the military does not expire on Friday.
