Marco Rubio, the frontrunning candidate in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate in Florida, raised $3.6 million in contributions during the first three months of 2010, according to a report by the Palm Beach Post.
Meanwhile, his foe Gov. Charlie Crist, has not yet released his figures. An accounting is due on April 15.
In addition to money, the new year has been good to Rubio at the polls.
Rubio held a 48-to-37 percent lead in a late-March Mason-Dixon survey and a 56-to-34 percent lead in a March 18 Rasmussen poll.
In the bigger picture, Democratic U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami has not released a first-quarter fund-raising figure for his Senate campaign. Meek raised more than $4.6 million in 2009.
