Germany Says GDP Rises 0.2 Percent in Q1

The Federal Statistics Office says Germany posted a 0.2 percent rise in gross domestic product in the first quarter of 2010 as the economic recovery began to gain momentum.

The Wiesbaden office on Wednesday also corrected upward fourth quarter 2009 GDP growth to 0.2 percent from an initial report of stagnation in the quarter based on preliminary figures.

When compared with a year earlier, GDP was up 1.7 percent in the January to March period of 2010.
